Semi Final 1 May 25th - Predictions & Discussions

So Semi Final 1 will take plave on Tuesday 25th May in Oslo. Here are the 17 songs taking part in SF1:

01 Moldova:

03 Estonia:

04 Slovakia:

Aisha - What For?
07 Serbia:
Milan Stanković - Ovo je Balkan.
08 Bosnia and Herzegovina:

10 Belgium:
Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar.
11 Malta:
Thea Garrett - My Dream.
12 Albania:
Juliana Pasha - It's All About You.
13 Greece:
Giorgos Alkaios and Friends - Opa.
14 Portugal:
Filipa Azevedo - Há dias assim.
15 F.Y.R. Macedonia:
Gjoko Taneski, Billy Zver and Pejcin - Jas ja imam silata.
16 Belarus:

1 Point: F.Y.R. Macedonia.
2 Points: Bosnia & Herzegovina.
3 Points: Greece.
4 Points: Belarus.
5 Points: Serbia.
6 Points: Latvia.
7 Points: Iceland.
8 Points: Moldova.
10 Points: Albania.
12 Points: Slovakia.

These are the 10 songs which I believe should go through to the final. Below are the reasons the other 7 didn't make it.

Belgium:
I find this song to be very boring and not right for Eurovision, there is already an acoustic guitar song in the contest in the form of Sweden which is much better.
Malta:
This is musically a quite good song but it's so boring, I did like Malta's 2009 entry but this is such a let down from Chiara.
Finland:
All I have to say about this is did Finland learn nothing from Waldo last year. This is one of the worst songs this year.
Estonia:
This is a strange song, the wierd echoy vocals are disturbing and it's just not right for Eurovision at all.
Russia:
This is rubbish and boring. Despite the flack it got I actually really liked "Mamo" from last year, it strikes me that Russia doesn't want to host the show again after the 30 Million Euros spent last year.
Portugal:
I love a good ballad but this is weak in comparison to the likes of Norway, Israel, Croatia. It has a very 90's sounding musical track.
Poland:
When this song starts you'd expect it to be epic with all the chanting but then Marcin starts singing and it just loses any appeal.

My #1 for Semi Final1:

i hope that Latvia and Greece will go through.
Moldova's song is also nice.
Russia is awful this year.

No not necessarily, I think "What If We" from Malta last year was a more Disney song, maybe something from The Lion King but I still loved it. This is just I don't know it's quite boring and plain!

I also agree with you guys I Love the music in the Slovakian song and I love the fact that she sings in Slovak and not in English! I like when ppl sing in their own language and not in English cause most often the songs gets So much better!
Because I think the Albanian song would be better if she sang in Albanian cause it's such a beautiful language and I think it would work better with the music
Actually I didn't like Greece at first but now I think it's ok and Greece gets an extra point from me because it isn't a ballad
The most ballads (not just in ESC) are boring according to me...there is few exeptions though

Ewww Maksim Fadeev composed the music for the Belarusian entry and I really DON'T like him.......because of what he did to Serebro He ruined Serebro according to me. They're still good, but not even a fourth as good as before (2007-2008)

In the Swedish show called "Before ESC 2010" everyone in the Jury liked Portugal and I can't get why because I think it's SOO boring and she can't even sing and they just said "She sings amazing and the song is soo good!"....
I think all of them should go check their ears

I don't understand the swedish juries, really. In 2008 Portugal had an awesome song and they mocked it, even insulted the singer, and now Portugal has an awful song and they consider it great

yes, that's the point
there are only few dance songs.
but i can't say that it's crappy
it worse than DFY, Shake it, MNO, Everything and so on, but it is good, if you don't compare t with others.

It's way worse than all the songs greece sent the past years, which is good, Greece can't win this year

The best qualified, Greece, Iceland and Belgium.However, I would like Malta to be qualified instead of Russia.We can understand why Russia qualified

I am so disappointed! I can't belive Russia is in final it's the worst song ever People in Europe are deaf or they lost their mind.
And I like the most Belgium It's the one good song

I'm glad that Serbia, Albania & Iceland got through. Gutted for Slovakia though that was my favourite from the first semi. Aisha from Latvia looked devastated that she didn't get through. I'm nervous for Thursday's semi final cause most of the good songs are in that final, aslong as Croatia & Israel get through I'll be fine. I suppose I want Safura of Azerbaijan to get through but her rehearsals have been shockingly bad!

There were some good songs but no song that you know it's the winner.

Today everyone I talked about it said they loved Belgium

and songs are not really good

I love the effects and the graphics they used!

I don't know how it was in 2000 but I don't consider it cheap. The stage is effective and the transitions between songs is the best I've seen!

That's right Tiago. It was very good and quality. Not cheap at all for sure. And yes there were some good songs so I'm looking forward to the second semi-final.

well, for me it looked too simple

This Norwegian TV presenters were really nice. They say some words in Polish and support our representative.

I think kristina from Slovakia should have went to the final. she was great.

I don't think it looks cheap at all. I do huave to admit I don't like the bubbles making the picture of the country and the way the video of the capital is like floating above the stadium but I think the presenters are really good, much much better than the semi ones last year.

agree about the presenters, in Moscow they were awful

haha thats what i liked most, so original! I also liked it very much as a whole, not just another kitschy contest its something simple and beautiful! Im talking about the stage and the organisation of course, not the songs. What i didnt like are the videos with the people jumping around before every performance, im sure such countries of the north have many things to show that the rest of Europe cannot see everyday

I missed it because I had to study for exams...:(
but even the few songs I did hear weren't that good anyway- the only one I liked a little was Albania's song...(at least I think it was Albania if I remember right)
