Welcome PM Empty Welcome PM

Hello.

I know that many different forums send an automatic personal message to all new registered users, to welcome them, and Paparizou forum might be one of these forums. But it was a while ago (Time goes fast!) I registered here so I do not remember if there is any automatic personal message sent out to all new members. If it is, what is said in the PM?

If there are no automatic personal message, I think a new (very) good thing would be to make an automatic personal message and really welcome all new members. Maybe give them a link to the welcome category and write that they are welcomed to make a thread there so all members who wants can welcome them but the PM could also include other important stuff that a new member need to know.

I think this would be a good function because many members just register and then maybe only log in now and then, or maybe even only log in once and then never come back. If you run a forum you want the member to "get stuck" (in a positive way) to the forum so he/she really wants to visit the forum often. And I think that can be acquired by having an automatic PM.

If the member makes a thread in the welcome forum I think there is a even bigger chance of the member to stay and be an active member. At least I have the feeling that if you post once, there are bigger chances of posting more later on also. Therefore I think it can be good to show all new members that there is a welcome forum he/she can post in. A personal message might be the difference between the member noticing the welcome forum or not, and one post might lead to more posts later on.

What do you think?

Agreed. But this has been discussed in our administration forum for the past weeks already, so it's currently in the works. Very Happy In fact even more than just a PM is currently considered as a welcome note! Wink

Well, I am excited to hear what exactly it is about later on then. Very Happy

But I still think that a welcome PM is a good idea to (especially) introduce them to the welcome category. The "Quick Links"-thread could work very good as a PM or even an email if possible.

Panos is in charge of all these functions/ideas so I'm sure he will let you know when he's ready. Keep Paparizouing!
