HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
I bought the books yesterday and so far it's pretty good. There's movie based on the books coming into cinemas later this month and I'm pretty excited about it. But I'm not going to watch it unless I've read the entire 1st book. Anyone else planing to watch it or read the books?

Re: HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
I have actually heard of this book. But I aren't sure about how. Maybe I was about to read it on an English class for some years ago.
I remember the story about what happening in the beginning and so, but I don't know what happens later. So I can't have read it yet.
Feels so weird to know about this book without knowing why I remember it.

Re: HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
I can't take them seriously. Also when young kids are the main characters. Even when I was a kid and read such book I didn't like it.
The same with movies. If a kid is a main character in a movie it ruins it for me a little bit (except STar Wars episode I)
And the 6th sense.

Re: HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
I'm not into books with teenagers as main characters either, but so far HG book rocks. The thing is that the preview for the movie looks very promising, but my experience is, that the books are usually much better. That's why I want to read them 1st.

Re: HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
I see. Maybe I will give it a try.
I agree the books are always better but if the movie is made with heart like Lord of the rings was then both can rock:)

I understand you if you are talking about movies. But in books, it's your imagination. Can't see the problem.

Re: HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
For me it's the same in both books and movies.
For example there is a book called The seventh scroll from Wilbur Smith. I saw the movie first and there was an annoying kid in it all along as a key characther. Ruined it totally. When I learned that he is not in the book at all!!!... I was more than happy to buy it

Give the books try. I have already finished 2 books and I'm starting with 3rd. I had never been done with books so quickly.

Re: HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
this is from wikipedia
The Hunger Games has been well-received by critics. In Stephen King's review for Entertainment Weekly, he praised how the book is addictive and also compared it to "shoot-it-if-it-moves videogames in the lobby of the local eightplex; you know it's not real, but you keep plugging in quarters anyway." However, he stated that there were "displays of authorial laziness that kids will accept more readily than adults" and that the love triangle was standard for the genre. He gave the book an overall B grade. Elizabeth Bird of School Library Journal praised the novel, saying it is "exciting, poignant, thoughtful, and breathtaking by turns". The review also called it one of the best books of 2008. Booklist also gave a positive review, praising the character violence and romance involved in the book. In a review for The New York Times, John Green wrote that the novel was "brilliantly plotted and perfectly paced", and that "the considerable strength of the novel comes in Collins's convincingly detailed world-building and her memorably complex and fascinating heroine." However, he also noted that sometimes the book does not realize the allegorical potential that the plot has to offer and that the writing "described the action and little else".
Kirkus Reviews gave a positive review, praising the action and world-building, but pointed out that "poor copyediting in the first printing will distract careful readers—a crying shame". Time magazine was positive and praised the hypnotic quality of the violence. Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, claims it is the "closest thing to a perfect adventure novel" he has ever read. Stephenie Meyer (author of the Twilight series) endorsed the book on her website, saying, "I was so obsessed with this book....The Hunger Games is amazing."

This trilogy is awesome! I started with the 1st book and I couldn't stop reading, then I had to buy the next right away! I didn't even know about them, and less about the movie when I read them, and now it seems it has turned into quite a thing.
You'll enjoy it

I have now read to page 90.
It is going slowly forward but I like the book. Interesting book and I wonder what happens next each time I need to stop reading.

Re: HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY
I have now read trough all the 453 pages in the first book, the hunger games.
A fairly interesting book and I didn't get tired of reading it.
Lets see if I ever will read the next two books in the trilogy.

I have now read the second book in school and it had a weird beginning, as I didn't understand anything. But after a while I almost couldn't stop reading and now I have read through it. I just wanted to see what happened on next page, next... and so on. Great book and I must really begin to read the third book soon!

Nothing, as long as it's part of the class.

It was part of the class. Why would I read a book on a class if that wasn't the task?
