Forum Promo Plan - Summer 2012

I 've seen that many of you have nice idea on improving the forum, and promoting it, so that we attract more members  
But, I think that before we can start the promotion outside the forum, I think that there are some simple things in the forum which every member can improve, and make the forum better themselves. When a new member is coming here, should see that the forum is properly working, in a percentage of 95%. Everybody here is great, but there is still room for some improvements. In the next days I 'll be uploading some videos on YT showing you how you can take part in the internal forum improvement

yes. Before we do that, we must kind of "prepare" the forum properly

By the way, I was for a while ago looking on the forumotion forum-support. I saw there a forum named "Forum Reviews". It seems like there is some people there which review your forum by "graphics & layout", "Forum activity", "Staff & usergroups", "Forum orginality". It might be a thing for TinaCZ to request for, so she and you moderators know what to improve.

Have that multi "+" been available before?
I have not tried the way explained but it seems to be much nicer then click plus once... wait... click once again...

No, you didn't get it. I said that you can go to another post, and click on it (giving it points). You can only give once contribution points to each post. It goes like this:
1. Open a topic
2. Go to a post
3. Open a new tab in your browser
4. Drag the contribution point symbol "+" to the new tab. Now you have awarded the contribution point to that post.
5. Go to another post
6. Drag the contribution point symbol "+" to the already opened tab. You have now awarded the contribution point to the other post

The point of it is that you can open a new tab, and drag there the "+" symbols, from DIFFERENT posts (and for posts from different topics), without spending much time!

No, you drag the contribution point in another tab, so that you don't get that message:

"Your vote has been cast.

in the same tab. What you do is making that page appear in another tab. You can let it load itself, and go the "old" tab and find another post to give points to. Let me explain you in another way:
If you click directly to the "+" button, the page with the message "Your vote has been cast" will appear on the same tab. That means that it will take some time to load, and then you will have to go back, find another post on the same topic, and give points, and repeat again.
With the "method" I showed, you can drag it to another tab, and that way you won't have to wait for it to load, and then go back, and then again, in another post, load, and go back, and again and again and again. It gives you the flexibility to let the message page load in another tab, so that you can find and award points to a post quicker.

I think I understand. The "you have voted" page appears on the new tab instead and therefore you save time?

It is good with the advice, more people will then have the time to give everyone "+".

I wonder what the new things are. Always good with things that make it easier for new members!

not really. I feel like we have improved the forum quite a lot during last fseveral weeks and tbh I dont think an outsider, who knows nothing about the subject of the forum, should tell you his opinions about the forum. he could pretty much only tell us what he thinks about the design. we have our members to tell us what could be improved and what bothers them.

Of course the most important opinions that is needed is the members and the guests that can get to be a member here.

But still, I can't see a negative side of doing that. There can come some goods points if there is something that can get better. Getting a review from them doesn't mean that we users can't have an opinion about what is good and bad about the forum.

They can come with good things. Just because they say something negative about the forum it doesn't mean that we need to fix it.

Well, before a member becomes a member he/she is an outsider too. So we care what an outsider thinks!

well, yes, but that person who would do such review would (probably) never become our member

But still it can be good with reviews from people outside the forum. Maybe how new guest feel when they visit the site.
And it is just to write a few lines about the forum, then they do the hard work. And in all honestly there can come up something that would be good to change or something. Maybe just that none is thinking about it here and right now.
