Croatia 2013
Croatia going traditional for 2013
Zagreb, Croatia -
Croatian broadcaster HRT has today revealed the plans for the selection of their entry to the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. After a period of three years whereby Croatia didn't qualify for the Grand Final, HRT have decided to try something very different and traditional in an attempt to reverse these fortunes.
HRT has announced that their entry for 2013 will be a traditional Croatian style Klapa.
Klapas are traditional Croatian songs which will generally celebrate love, wine, the country, and the sea. A klapa group consists usually of a first tenor, second tenor, a baritone, and bass, Klapas are usually performed acapella, but it is quite common for a gentle guitar or a mandolin to be added. The tradition of klapas is still very popular in Croatia and even some parts of the United States, and new compositions are being made regularlay and klapa festivals are still held.
Klapa performers are generally either all male or all female, but rarely the two mixed together generally.
Selection process
To be allowed to enter for the Croatian selection process, applicants must be Croatian citizens over 16 years old. The song has to be a traditional klapa, and must not have been released before the 1st of September 2012. A specially formed three member jury will listen to all of the submitted entries, and choose the best one to represent Croatia in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.
There will also be two reserve songs chosen as back up. After the song has been selected, the artists (up to six) who shall perform the chosen song in Malmö will then be selected. The artists will again also have to be Croatian citizens over the age of 16. HRT promises to shoot a video clip of the selected song, and possibly take the artists on one or more promo tours in different countries.
What do you think of Croatia's plans?

Personally, I like this traditional klapa music, but I'm not sure if this is a good idea. I assume that Europe may find it boring. Only if the send extremely good and catchy song, but I kinda don't think it's going to happen. This music is connected with the ambient. like when you come here, enjoy traditional cuisine while listening to this music playing in the background, otherwise I'm not sure. But ok, it's something new so let's see what's going to happen.
Here are some of the examples how these songs sound (those are modern versions, cos in real traditional genre they sing acapella)

jedini moguci nacin koji mogu zamisliti a da ova pjesma ispadne dobro jest kad bi je colonia napravila u svom fazonu i ubacila taj tradicionalni dio

that's your opinion, it doesn't mean that everyone will share it. I don't say it will be successful or anything, but saying it won't get into finals 100% before the song is even made.... I'll wait to hear the song and then I'll judge.
Last year the song was really bad and boring for example >.<
