Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
A song with the title "Elektrisk" will participate in one of the swedish semi-finals of Melodifestivalen 2011.
I wonder if this is the same song with this that Helena said that she had a proposal to participate

Most likely it is!
A re Elena!!
However the songwriters seem to be different from those who wrote "heroes".
From her website: The song can be described as an international pop/r&b/electronica/dance mix in Swedish. It is written by Play Production (Johan Fransson / Tim Larsson / Tobias Lundgren / Johan Alkenäs).
Elena once claimed "Elektrisk" had been written by the same people who wrote "heroes" right?
But here are the "Heroes" writers/producers: Niclas Molinder,Joacim Persson,Pelle Ankarberg
Hmm...

Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
I can't believe that Linda Bengtzing has entered with another Swedish song when her last 2 singles have been English and after her last attempt at Melodifestivalen in 2008 she said that she wanted to do an English song but her label said no.
Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
for me it sounds ok. i don't know if we would be able to qualifiy for the final in the ESC with these songs, but i can't say anything yet. but it sounds weaker than usual, for example i thought last year and the year before definitely had some better songs.
Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
How can you say that now when you won't hear the songs until next year?

i know most of these artists and their style of songs, but well, i don't know if they are trying something new. well, either, i am going to the last rehearsal of the final this year too. i know that is one of my christmas presents
but you are right, i don't know what they will sound like until next year, so we'll see. i'm just basing it on my personal taste. but that can be wrong too. maybe they will all blow my socks off

The writer of the song (Dimitris Stassos) has confirmed this song was written while he had Elena on his mind!
It was probably meant to be offered to Elena but Sofia came in his way.Not that Elena would participate in Melodifestivalen back then...

Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
Saturday Night saw Heat 1 in Luleå.
Dilba 'Try Again'
A nice dance track, Dilba's vocals are not the best on the studio version and were worse live, it was hard to hear her.
Swingfly 'Me & My Drum'
This is a fast paced pop/rock song, a very modern song that could do well at Eurovision if people are still looking for that something different.
Jenny Silver 'Something In Your Eyes'
A very ABBA inspired pop song. A much better effort from Jenny than last year. This sounds like it could have come straight out of the 'Mama Mia' movie.
Jonas Matsson 'On My Own'
This is an acoustic number. It's a nice song but in no way strong enough for Eurovision. It's a similar genre to the style Olly Murs is currently using.
Le Kid 'Oh My God'
The performance of this looked messy, with bright colours and boxes all over the shop. The song it's self is quite good and I'm suprised this didn't go through to Andra Chansen.
Rasmus Viberg 'Social Butterfly'
This is very reminiscent of Alexander Rybak with a slightly moderner twist. The song is okay but again I don't think right for Eurovision.
Perrnilla Andersson 'Desperados'
Musically, this sounds very Amy McDonlad. The only song from this heat not in English, it's an okay song but I don't think t deserved a place at Andra Chansen over other songs.
Danny 'In The Club'
Full on dance track that starts off with a piano/techno beat untill it kicks in properly, it's a very good song. The live performance was also very good and the crowd were loving it.
Heat Winner:
Danny 'In The Club'
Heat Second Place:
Swingfly 'Me & My Drum'
Andra Chansen:

I liked the Danny song, which was the favorite, however, there seems to an issue.

Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
not exactly. there are some slight differences in the music. and the text is not built up in the same way. danny only sings "in the club, the club", they sing "en el club..." and adds lots of other words. danny has only one sentence through thw whole chorus, while they have at least 3 different. so i wouldn't say it's a problem. it it was alike, they would have disqualified it before the whole Melodifestivalen had even selected the songs.

Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
Not necessarily, I agree that the chorus does souns similar but it's different. There's always a chance that some songs can sound similar. in 2009 Paolo Meneguzzi's "Era Stupendo" was likened to Amy Diamond's "It Can Only Get Better" but nothing was done about it.

I agree it doesn't sound exactly the same
and btw Era Stupendo is a lot better then the Amy Diamond song but I guess I'm partial since I don't like Amy

did they run out of imagination or what?! good it got disqualified.
i hope there are some good songs participating this saturday

I agree it was good it was disqualified. But the song itself wasn't that bad and the guy sang ok. It would have been better if he just released a cover version of it on a cd or smth. I can't believe they tried to enter it in ESC-preselection though.
I hope they will be good songs too. Because I think the hosts are really bad especially him. I really like Marie Serneholt though but I prefer her as a singer than host I think. I wish they could've had Måns as host again but I guess he can't becase of the Romeo & Julia Musical he's starring in
Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
jantzen wrote:Mans was really good and so was I have to agree!

Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
Måns was a really great host! I wish he would have been the host this year too. This year so far has been really boring, i mean the middle-act was really boring last saturday, i hope it gets better the 12th!
Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
I so didn't know that SVT are streaming the songs from the heats in full on the day of the heat this year.
Tonight is heat 2:
Loreen / My Heart is Refusing Me:
This starts off as a nice mellow dance track then the chorus kicks in with some great melodies. I really like this song.
Christian Walz / Like Suicide:
Another dance track, my favourite of this heat. Again it's quite mellow to start off with but never really makes an impact with big synths or anything but it's still a great song.
The Moniker / Oh My God:
This is a pleasant little song, it makes you want to sway along with it (well it does me). It's different which may be a good thing.
Elisabeth Andreassen / Vaken i en dröm:
This is a very regal song, like it's been taken from a disney movie or something. I don't think it's the best for Melodifestivalen, it'll be on wasted ears I believe.
Sanna Nielson / I'm In Love:
This also sounds like a funked up Disney song. It has a very retro feel which hasn't worked so well at Eurovision since Carola came 5th in 2006. It's an alright song and could possibly go through but that will probably be because of Sanna not the song.
Anniela / Elektrisk:
This is an stomping pop.dance song, which is presented very well. It's the kind of song I can see going through, it just depends on the live performance.
Babsan / Ge mig en spanjor:
This is ... erm ... well the singer is a drag queen so you know it's been done for comedy value, it's got a very spanish like musicality to it, it's not very good.
Brolle / 7 Days & 7 Nights:
This is a bit of a rock ditty, I'm not a fan myself but it might do well considering it's Brolle. The lyrics aren't very good either.
My predictions:
I think it will probably be Christian Walz & Sanna Nielson through to Globen. Brolle & Loreen to Andra Chansen.
Although I think it should be Christian Walz & Loreen to Globen!

I promise I'll vote for Christian if I like his song
Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
Brolle & Sanna got through to Globen. Loreen and The Monikers got to Andra Chansen, I'm not impressed. Christian's song is awesome but to be fair his vocals were very poor!
Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
omg the songs last saturday was horrible! I HATED "the Playtones" and I though Eric Saade's song should have been stronger. It was just a bad cover of Manboy with worse lyrics
The middle-act was the best I wish we could send it instead

Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
This was such a weak heat, the songs were not to a good standard, the only dong that I liked was "Enemy" by Sara Lumholt but she sang it so badly. Eric Saade's song was a messes up version of Man Boy it didn't deserve to win, put the performance did.

Judging from these videos the best 3 songs/performances for me -in order of preference- are:
1. Eric Saade
2. Danny
3. Sanna Nielsen
Can't believe there is not a strong female contender in the final this year. Apparently I didn't follow this year's Melodifestivalen but I am sure I will dedicate a few hours watching the different heats from SVT.se one day.

I was undecided as to whether he or Eric Saade should win. 2nd place is not bad though. His song will be a big hit. I missed a strong female contender in this competition though. If Helena had particpated Danny or Eric would stand no chance against her.

Melodifestivalen let you have 7 people on stage and have a backing track (one that includes backing vocals).
Re: Sweden 2011 - Eric Saade wins Melodifestivalen
I had no idea, I always think that the national selections have similar rules to ESC.
After listening to the other songs, Danny should have won, it was better vocally and the song is much better
