Ireland 2012

It has been announced on the RTÉ evening news that the country will be repeating the formula they used to select their 2011 Eurovision entry. Once again, Jedward will take part. The twins will be mentored by former Eurovision winner Linda Martin.


Last Friday, Jedward confirmed themselves as the 2012 Irish participants in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, minutes ago, RTÉ announced via their evening news show that a national final will be held with 5 acts taking part, just like this year.

Once again, five mentors will help the hopefuls reach their aim of representing the island next year in Baku. It has been announced that Linda Martin, who won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland back in 1992 with the song Why me? will be mentoring the twin brothers.

The date when the Irish national final for the 2012 Eurovision will take place has not yet been disclosed.

I wonder if they would get as good result this year. My feeling tells my that it can get a very bad result. But of course I can be wrong.

I feel that way too, if Sweden would not care so much about the songs quality, sadly.

i like it because it makes me laugh... I saw the 2nd semi final with my cousin and she didn't stop laughing while Jedward was singing but i saw the final with my mum (and she sees ESC for a very long time) and she was just like every year since 2009 "When i was your age there weren't this stupid songs, ESC was a really music contest", and sadly she's right. BTW, Sweden doesn't care about the voice, but cares about the performance

Can't deny it about 2011, when Eric Saade was performing.
I think the most important thing is how the music sounds to. A good looking person is maybe a plus but should not win against a better song.

Is there no more information about other participats for Ireland?

maybe I'm a bit partial cause I'm a fan, but have my rights to
you don't like Jedward just because of their voices, it's the whole package kinda.
All famous singers don't have amazing voices, Britney Spears for example.
It's about the performance and the charisma they have on stage

I want them too, cause I know they're gonna stay popular no matter the results and they always make good songs too so I'm not that worried I'm happy!
and I met them (again!) in gothenburg the other day and they're so nice and cute to their fans! I don't know any other celebs who are so nice as they are
I went to their concert there too it was awesome yeye

Luv them to bits! they're funny, nice, sweet, have awesome charisma and performances and that's only a few things I love about them

they didn't win the contest = they lost. that's how I meant it.

I don't really hate them, but I guess I'm in age when I no longer like such "groups".

I've heard that woman from 2005 (don't remember her name) is goig to be in Eurosong at least.
Otherwise I don't know.

I didn't like the Jedward song so much actually...I thought it was kinda boring, it didn't live up to my expectations...
I don't hate it though, I just think it's ok. I haven't listened to the other entries yet though so I don't know if I like them better...
I want them to win because they have a good song that is "wow", not just because they are Jedward so if I prefer any of the others I think they will be more worthy of winning, I'd rather see John & Edward loose Eurosong than them not qualifing from the first semi or qualifing and then land in the bottom in the final.
They won with just 2p last year, and they haven't gained that more fans in Ireland, so it's not sure they gonna win it.

Yes, maybe they will not go to final. I don't know how the "point system" is in Ireland with this. But two points doesn't sound much.
And of course the better song should go to final. But I have a feeling that a song gets a lot better if you are a fan of these persons.

If Elena would participate again, I probably would like her song the most. Having fans in these sort of competitions can be very good to have!

Yeah, they have said themselves they want it to be even crazier this year, and the same with the outfits. I so hope they will qualify, because I won't be able to vote for them from Sweden. So I'll keep my fingers crossed! I know they won't win, but I still hope they will place well
