Armenia may still withdraw if they feel that the special security Azerbaijan/EBU isn't sufficient for their delegate. EBU are trying to convince Poland to take part in the contest this year instead of withdrawing and there is a chance Morocco could take part this year but it's a slim chance.

"A total of 37 countries will participate in the two semifinals. The draw to determine which countries act in each one will be held on January 25 in Baku, during the Host City Insignia Exchange.

From each of these, ten will proceed to the final adding to the Big-Five countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom) and the host country, Azerbaijan. The draw to determine the order of performance in each semifinal will be held in March during the traditional meeting of heads of delegation in Baku."

About where in Azerbaijan they will have the contest:

After a long waiting time and many speculations about whether or not they would be ready in time, the newly build, Chrystal Hall in Baku was finally approved by the EBU as venue for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

The process for finding the right venue to host the three shows in May this year has been extra long and complicated as speculations about if Azerbaijan would be finished building it in good time for the Eurovision Song Contest took over. Today EBU officially announced that they believe it will be finished and therefore the Chrystal Hall was approved.

The hall, that is almost finished, is placed in the center of Baku at the harbour, will be able to host aproximately 16.000 audience per show. EBU's Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand says: "We are excited to hold the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in a brand new, state-of-the-art concert hall. Now that we have the assurance that the construction will be ready in time, we can look really forward to the contest."

Later today, host city Baku, will officially be handed over the task from last year's host city, Düsseldorf. At the same time the semi-final allocation draw will take place. The two semi-finals will take place on the 22nd and 24th of May, with the grand final being on Saturday the 26th.

Which are your favourites?

My favourites are Sweden without not doubts, Norway, Cyprus, Greece and I also like France, although I'd say Spain but I've to confess that I find the spanish song very similar to "Run" by Leona Lewis. However, we should pay attention to Russia, they could be the big surprise this year!

My favorite is Sweden.

But if I should take another country, hmm. I do not really know. Maybe uh.. Sabina Babayeva - When the Music Dies for Azerbaijan.

Not really sure.

My favourites are Norway and Serbia

In my case it's pretty obvious, since I love Jedward. I know they're not going to win, but they are so sweet, and I am so in love with the song. My second favourite is Sweden, because she has a strong voice and a strong song. I also love Cyprus, because the song is really catchy! But it all comes down the the live performance!

yeah i read that too. they have spent more than twice the money russia did i know russia spent like 50 million euro and azerbaijan spent like 200 million euros

That is very much. But Azerbaijan also made a new arena for this. Maybe Russia didn't?

No, it was held in the Olympic Stadium which had been built for the Olympics in the 80's. But the stage was the largest stage ever in Eurovision. Everyone looked so small on it. Wonder if Azerbaijan wants to make it even bigger?

I'm sick of seeing Alexander Rybak at Eurovision. And Lena & Dima.

alexander rybak have been there twice, and dima bilan have been there three times, and lena only two. that's not much! they have been there as many times or less as both Sakis Rouvas and Zeljko Joksimovic, which both have been hosts and competed twice!

Damn, school then. But yeah, I can wait a little. Not that big thing.

Is going to be interesting how Cyprus will make their performance, much more active and with a choreography now I think.

Also I think it will be interesting to see how Swedens performance, with Loreen will look. I really liked that performance in melodifestivalen. The performance on stage worked so well with the music. Now it might be even better!

according to one eurovision site, everything is like 40 minutes delayed. Moldova, i think is having their rehearsal now, and Ireland will rehearse around 15.50
