i downloaded her album. i wasn't too impressed from my first listen. the songs didn't seem very catchy and they are very repetitive.

Vocal performance, to the juries, works as a double binary thing: if the song is a ballad or is sung in French, it scores high. If is both things, scores most points than Akos' post count in the PPlace Forum. If isn't a ballad or sung in French, juries consider it crap. Simple mecanics.

You've exaggerated. France song had it all. Amazing instrumental, very good performance and vocals. It's normal it score high. Many of us didn't like it because we usually listen more to Pop.
Juries should stay.

Re: Greece 2010
yes, her song was the best in my opinion. she hasn´t released anything new in these years, just 2 new songs.... .
what about tamta or vanessa adamopoulou ?. I´d like to see them at ESC.
what I don´t want it´s a ballad nor a rock ( heavy) song. A pop-dance song please with an entry like helena´s: with good music and song, amazing voice, beautiful and sexy singer and good perfomance and choreography.....
about the language....a greek song with the chorus in english would be perfect.
I know I want to much xD

Re: Greece 2010
I would love if Elli Kokkinou goes. ERT had asked her to go in 2008, but she said no becuase she was pregnant. Who knows, maybe she will say yes this time.....
Other than that, I can't think of any other big name singer I would like to see. I would be more open to a national selection with three semi-big singers like in 2007 and 2008.
ERT would defiantly not send an unknown singer. The contest has become too big of a draw in Greece to risk its popularity sending an unknown singer. Not to mention the money ERT makes from sponsors like another member pointed out. And regarding the language of the song, one can read the interview from ESCToday with Johnny Kalimeris to see ERT's stance on the subject. The specific comment on the language issue:
You have repeatedly stated that you insist upon sending songs in English, so a song in Greek is out of the question?
"I have indeed said it repeatedly and I will say it once more. You cannot have a song without lyrics, meaning lyrics that either you understand or stick to your mind and you can easily remember and repeat, like chewing gum. The competition is not just about the music, it is about the lyrics as well. If we send a song in Greek, noone will have the slightest idea what we are talking about. If we want the European vote, we had better make it easier for them to remember our song in a language that more people would get. Of course, on the other hand there is Molitva which contradicts what I just said. But the Serbian song had some kind of magic, which swept you away.
Now, do I exclude Greek altogether? No, if there is a song that will convince me it will do well, I will not be negative. If, for example, Alkistis Protopsalti wanted to go to Eurovision, I would have no objection to a song in Greek, but since we are sending pop, it has to be in English."
Who ever wants to read the whole interview, its available in two parts. It is actually a really great interview that answers a lot of questions.

Re: Greece 2010
It's not the language that is the problem .. "Molitva" won and that was all in Serbian. ERT need to realise that sending euor pop/dance songs every year isn't working so send a different genre. A song with similar styles to "To Fili Tis Zois" would be good, not necessarily in Greek.

lol, Mr. Kalimeris answers that question too in the interview....
Greece is often accused of sending the same type of song year after year, what do you have to answer to that?
"Greece has no heavy metal tradition, we don’t even have any considerable rock tradition. We have pop and Greek popular music, what we call laiko. The second is a very particular genre, which would appeal possibly to people in the immediate neighboring areas only, but it is very restrictive, if we send a song like that it will leave most of Europe cold."
But anyway, I think they are trying. I mean we have to remember that the public also votes for the song. OK, with Rouvas there was a limited choice in song style, but for example, Dantis in 2007 had a rock influenced song, and Sarbel's "Yassou Maria" won over it. I think it really comes down to what kind of artist is sent. That being said, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Onirama for example as a candidate in a national final.
Who knows, maybe if ERT goes down the national final with multiple singers road, they might choose Giorgos Sabanis and he might pick a song like "To Fili Tis Zois".

Re: Greece 2010
I was thinking about this the other day.
I think that either Stavento or Despina Vandi would be great!
It just has that ring to me plus i think they would be good!
I would say Kostas Martakis cause i like him but i just don't think he has that great talent at singing to be honest... not that great live.
Stavento or Despina

Re: Greece 2010
Also don't forget that when we added an ethnic feel ex: 2001,2004,2005 and 2008 we got at least third place!
But without we still got top ten(since 2000) but we could do better!Wasn't there talk about a World song contest? That actually kinda sounds awesome on one hand, but destroying a tradition on the other.
English or Greek with a ethnic beat

Ert will never realise that.If we send Elli or Despina or Martakis we will have the same style like the last years.Nothing new.
And maybe it is not important for the international audience that the greek song is in greek. But for the most greek people it is important. We have great Music and only because Europe speak English we must send every year a english song?I think not.The most Singers on Eurovision sing in English because they hope that she can make a international carrer. That is ridiculous. In my eyes the contest would be much better if every country would sing in his language. But so we have every year the same songs.

its logical to send every year europop since it works for them (every year in the top10)
we should finally flop to change our minds

Ok we are in the last 4-5 years every year in the top10.But every year with the same music style.that is really boring.and many people think that greece has nothing other than europop.

Re: Greece 2010
i agree with you, we have to send something different even if it fails! We had enough of top10 places lol
Re: Greece 2010
petition.com is the best place to make them, even though even then not many people really care and unfortuanetly,
The ERT i don't think would care anyway, they are very serious about Eurovision and Greeks have a high expectation of the entry.
For those who live in Greece and are Greek, trust me i know,it's ten times worst when your Greek-American,as you not only care abotu doing good, but also compete with the large amounts of other European-Americans.The other day some random person called my dad a Goat, well,u know the rest.I was so angry that they let the hate get to them because they different European-Americans.
Anyway back to the contest,i think its odd that we havent sent Despina,Elli,or Stavento, specially the first two considering how huge they are.
Anyone else see Nino and Xalia sing i kissed a girl at MAD?
I LOLed so hard.

I don't think that they have the same music style. It would be a chaos. Sampanis with Rallia would be OK but stavento is something very very different and it's unable for me to fit with them...

Yes, Rallia is a great singer. I'm still very often listening her songs from album "Ena Xadi Zesto" and other. It could be not bad choice, but I think that Stavento would be way better. Something different would be like fresh air. Remeber Lordi... Oh, and as Chris mentioned, song in a style of "Pio Konto" also could be high rated in the contest, I think

Pio Konta and This Is Our Night don't sound similar, TION is more cheesy pop, PK is more swe/dance/pop so more likely to get votes from the Baltics.
