Greece 2012
Greece is taking part in Eurovision 2012. According to Oikotimes ERT is ready to make an announcement very soon.

ERT READY TO MAKE ANNOUNCEMENT
Jan 3, 2012
Delayed due to the huge economic crisis, Greek national broadcaster finalizes the details for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. ERT is ready to make announcements regarding the format of the national final and the participant who will represent Greece in Baku. Surprises? Yes but all information reaching oikotimes are still embargoed.
Stay tuned for exclusive information
Did they make a mistake, or did they just give away a big hint by accident? Notice how they wrote "the participant" instead of "the participants". Could it be another internal selection like Elena, Anna, and Sakis were?

She sang "Fysika Mazi" with them @ the Golden Hall event recently. The original duet is between Elena and Onirama.

Re: Greece 2012
To be honest, I don't know whether Greece will send a song that will win because if they do win they might not be able to afford to host Eurovision next year. Maybe they will send a mediocre song just to keep themselves in the eurovision cycle.

i heard and read lots of those comments about Whatch My Dance. I made that comments too and after i saw the performance it became my favourite song
Greece is uncapable of sending a bad song
Re: Greece 2012
If Greece were to win, there would be a lot of complaing (lets not forget that some will even complain Greece is participating this year), but let's not forget that Eurovision 2006 was a money maker for ERT and boosted the local Athens economy. As far as I am concerned though, the Eurovision spirit and effort is not the same for Greece since Johnny Kalimeris stepped down as Eurovision project manager.

Well, maybe an ESC-win would be good for Greece. As you say it was also good promotion for Greece and athens when Elena won!

Re: Greece 2012
Just read this:
"Soon ERT will anounce the list of the 3/4 artists from Universal Music. The possible names are Malou Kyriakipoulou, Panagiotis Tsakalakos and Sinnerz; while George Sampanis could be one of the composers for one theme. He is a composer of some Helena's songs such as Girna Me Sto Htes."
http://www.janelaesc.com/2012/01/grecia-george-sampanis-na-final.html
I don't know any of those singers. Are they good?

Re: Greece 2012
If there are choosing Universal artists they could have Kostas Martakis, Giorgos Sampanis, Melisses, Mihalis Hatzigiannis, Goin' Through, Katerina Stikoudi ... There are loads of artists, Kostas would be a great choice, it would be great to see Kostas for Greece and Desislava for Bulgaria in the same contest

Re: Greece 2012
ERT officially announced that they are teaming up with Universal Music Greece for this year's selection process, as no other label wanted to share the costs of participation that ERT asked for. They will be officially announcing details on the acts soon.
So far rumors say it will be a 4-5 act National Final, and Universal wants to push their new up-and-coming acts. The rumored acts are:
*Eleftheria Eleftheriou, participated in the second season of X Factor Greece; she was supposed to be in the 2010 NF, but was disqualified after her song leaked early.
*Velvet Fire, a new duo that just released their debut single a few months ago. They were put together and are managed by producer Freakchild.
*Panagiotis Tsakalakos, winner of Greek Idol 2.
*Malou Kyriakopoulou, runner up of Greek Idol 2.
*Christos P., a new 18 year old singer that released his debut album a few months ago.
None of the names are confirmed yet, but according to reputable sources the first two acts are said to be very certain.

until when they have to have decided about their entry? I suppose there won't be preselections though as these will most likely cost a lot extra.

I have no idea but at least there's no other final that day so everyone can see Greece's final. That won't happen 2 days before. I wanted to see MF final and i can't

Re: Greece 2012
well.... I think the winner should come from these three: Killer bee, Baby I'm yours and Afrodisiac.
Now... which one should win.... Killer Bee is a catchy song so I wouldn't mind seeing it there. Baby I'm yours is a nice song with little greek element near to the end but the singer's voice should be strong I think. Afrodisiac is using the greek elements all along and I really love that but there also I think with a stronger voice it could be much better.
So far I vote for Killer Bee I think but later it might change.

After listening it more than once I think this would do well too yeah.
Re: Greece 2012
Such plain and old-fashioned songs. This is the worst pre-selection round Greece has ever seen in the post Antique (2001) era. Very disappointing!
1. Killer Bee: Typical dance tune, nothing stands out about it, just OK.
2. No parking: Childish "teen rock". It would kinda sound acceptable for Eurovision junior
3. Aphrodisiac: Better than the previous 2 because this one has at least a Greek touch to it yet it sounds very old-fashioned and cliche.
4. Baby I'm Yours: This is the best one but just like Aphrodisiac it sounds very old-fashioned. The only + factor is that it sounds a bit nostalgic but they need to work on the instrumentation and the vocals which sound weak at certain parts.

Derek I don't think it's bad for a song to be old fashioned. Must remind you that I thought Perelli's song had some 80's feeling in it. That doesn't make it old fashioned?
Greece will have my vote if one of the 3 songs will go which I liked:)

Perrelli's song has got fragments of old-fashioned music yet it sounds very modern and her song will probably get strong airplay on the radio (in Sweden) despite its failure in Melodifestivalen. These songs will be totally ignored by all radios in Greece because they are simply mediocre and sound nothing like the popular music of these days. They just sound old and "washed out" in my opinion. Retro style is cool, but these are just old-fashioned, no other way to describe them...

I do not hope so.

Re: Greece 2012
my favourite aphrodisiac although i'm a bit disapointed with the songs. After 2 amazing songs the previous years i was expecting more!
Re: Greece 2012
I can't say that i'm excited with these songs. However, the song that it sounds better to my ears is "Baby i'm yours".It sounds definitely like "Die for you" but of course it hasn't its quality at ll and it has to get a more modern instrumentation in order to have a 2012 sound."Afrodisiac" is much overrated in my opinion ( I expected something much better from Elefteria Eleftheriou, if you have heard the song ''Never" you will understand what i expected) and the other two completely mediocre
