The comeback plan
Helena Paparizou ready for Sweden again - takes help with ”Let’s Dance”
Helena Paparizou is going to do comeback in Sweden and takes help from “Let’s Dance” to show herself for the audience. But she still have a big career in Greece and to combine these two she now need to commute between the countries during the hectic dance weeks.
It will be stressful, but do you determine that it will work then it must do, Helena Paparizou says.
The singer Helena Paparizou, 30, haven’t worked in Sweden on many years. Latest time she was on a stage scene, before Melodifestivalen this year, was for around six years ago. Instead she have lived and worked in Greece there she after the win in Eurovision Song Contest 2005 have got to be a super star. She have over 100 000 followers on Twitter, do shows on the biggest nightclubs and last winer the sat in the jury for the Greek version of “Stjärnor på is” (Dancing on ice..)
“Let’s Dance” one part of the plan
2009 she planeed a comeback in Sweden, but after that her father Georgios Paparizou got an heart attack and died 2008 Helena chosed to stay in Greece and work. But this year she is ready to get into the Swedish market again. “Let’s dance” is a part of the plan she works from to get back, and she have already got to be a favourite to win.
- It is a fantastic entertainment program, but then I have been gone for so long time, so I though that at the same time I can learn something I have the chance to learn new people in the branch in addition that the audience get to learn me, Helena tells about the idea to be in Let’s Dance, and also she tells that she and David is training hard in the training local.
Helena works very hard with the dance. She is very ambitious in this, her dance partner David Watson says.
But because she still have her career in Greece she now need to commute between the countries to make it. The work continues in Greece. For instance I am making a big summer tour, so it is pretty much going on.
Intermediate landing in Germany
I will commute with airplanes. It gets stressful and right now and right now there is no non-stop flights so I need to intermediate land in Germany. But it should work. We have agreed to that I sometimes need to Greece on Saturday and then come back on Sunday so I at least will make the evening pass then, she says.
Helenas plan:
- In march she sang last year winning song, Eric Saades 'popular' the melodifestivalens final. She thanked no to Christer Björmans question to compete this year, but still she performed for over four million watchers.
- Thanked yes to 'Let's Dance to make new contacts and let the Swedish people know her.
- Have hired the well known pr-woman Lili Assefa.
- Plan to release a CD in Sweden and wants to sign a contract with a Swedish record label and a Swedish management.
Helenas career in pictures:
1999: Helena Paparizou and her childhood friend Nikos Panagiotidis starts Antique. Their first single, a version of Notis Sfakiankis song “Opa Opa” sold gold. They represented Greece in Eurovision song contest 2011 and came third with the song “Die for you”.
2003: Antique gets devided and Helena choses to try a solocareer. In December the same year she released her debut single “Anapantites klisis” that sold gold in Greece. She have released six albums as a solo artist. The last 2011.
2005: Represent Greece in Eurovision Song Contest with “My number one” and wins. She releases her first album “Protereotita” In Greece and later a version on English. She made a tour in North America and Australia with the Greek artist Nikos Kourkoulis.
2005-2006: Releases the single “Mambo” in countries like Austria, Poland, Turkey, Spain, France, England, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, China, South Africa and Australia. In august she released “My number one” in USA and Canada. There she later on the year release “Mambo”.
